Thursday Day 440 Food Diary

Can you believe how close we are to the new year? It seems like the further along in this year we’ve gotten, the faster its gone by. There’s four days left, and then it will be 2013! We don’t have anything planed for New Years, and it will probably be the same as the last few years- we’ll stay in and share a bottle of champagne and call it good. I’ve already bought the champagne, and its chilling in the fridge. We’re not big partiers, and neither of us are big fans of being surrounded by the drunkies, so just spending it together is nice.

I’ve also (if you hadn’t seen it yet) published my list of goals to work towards for the year 2013 a few days ago. A few are recycled from this year, and some are downgraded a bit because I’ve tried to reach them multiple times and they’ve just been way out of reach, but I think I’ve chosen some good ones, and I stand a chance of meeting most of them or at least coming close. Food today has been pretty good. Not outstanding, and I know it could have been better (I did not need the second cup of coffee or the hot coco at the end of the day), but it wasn’t as bad as I feared it would be after a couple of days of not tracking at all and just eating what I wanted. I’m obviously not going to make my goal of entering 2013 as “overweight” after the slight backsliding I did, but I do feel good that it wasn’t like last year’s- I gained about 5 pounds back over the Christmas holiday last year.

Monday Day 437 to Wednesday Day 439

polar12242012So, I have been MIA since Sunday, and for pretty good reason. The Deb here at Deb’s Losing It has been busy, busy, busy! Monday I woke up and did some baking. I made these delicious pumpkin cornbread muffins which I packed up to take out to my mom’s house when we went there for dinner Monday night. I also packed up some of the delicious fudge our friend Tracy made us, and took it out there too. I also went to the gym and did a quick walk/run workout, and later walked the 1.8 miles (round trip) to my doctor’s appointment and home. I probably ate way too much turkey, ham, chocolate covered cherries, and then topped it all off with a slice of key lime pie once we got to my mom’s. We didn’t stay late as the dogs were home waiting for dinner, and Mattie had to work Monday so he was tired. Dinner was good, and we had a nice gift exchange afterwards. Not all the gifts my mom had ordered had come in yet, so I guess we’re still waiting on some things. I had a hell of a time falling asleep because I guess I really am 5 years old when it comes to Christmas.

Tuesday morning I woke up, and annoyed Mattie for about an hour before he elected getting out of bed was easier than listening to me tell him that Santa came… lol. We got up and did our gifts to each other, and I am happy to say he loved the one I was most excited about. Yes, I bought him this: Heavy Metal Fun Time Activity Book and its actually pretty darned cool. It has pages to color, mazes, those things where you draw the second half of the picture, puzzles, everything you’d find a kids’ activity book, but heavy metal themed. I was a little worried he wouldn’t like it but he spent a good 30 minutes looking at it after unwrapping it.

Saturday Day 435 & Sunday Day 436 Food Diary

polar12222012Hi everyone! I hope you’re ready for Christmas, because its pretty much here now. This is going to be a fairly short post, but I’m going to try to squeeze everything in. Yesterday I did really well on food, especially considering we went to a party. I had a quesadilla for breakfast, which was followed by an 800+ calorie workout, and later we drove out to the party at our friends.

They had a few things to munch on there, mainly dessert items brought by other guests, and dinner was chicken Parmesan, fettuccine Alfredo, salad, and garlic bread. They had it brought in by a place called Giovanni’s, and it was really, really good. We may need to go check it out some time and have dinner there. I had a small portion of everything, followed by a second helping of salad several hours later.

I will admit to too many brownie bites (homemade y another friend’s mom) with peanut butter chips in them, a few cookies, and a small slice of fruit cake. Still, I really didn’t go way overboard and I’m pretty proud of myself for not stuffing myself silly. I’m not all that proud of how much I had to drink though- there was a peppermint cranberry punch, plus a few mixed shots that were divine, and I probably had enough to drink to last me a year as I normally have one drink a month, if that.

Friday Day 434 Food Diary

Today was… long. I woke up at 8am unable to feel my legs and feet from the knees down. I tried to move, and it was just heavy weight and pins and needles. At some point after Mattie had left for work, Sashi had climbed into bed with me, laid down on top of my legs, and gone to sleep. Aside from the fact that she is absolutely not allowed on the bed, she’s also 75 pounds of big. For all I know she laid down on me at 6am. I’m a hard sleeper most of the time, and her decided to sleep on top of me obviously didn’t wake me up. I got up, wiggled my feet and toes for a minute til I could feel them again, and got dressed.

Breakfast was a turkey pepperoni and cheese quesadilla. Seriously. It was pretty damned good too- not as good as the calzones we had last night, but good. I wasn’t expecting it to be that good. After breakfast (and a leisurely cup of coffee) I got dressed, and headed to the gym. I got there with the plan to do my run/walk workout, and come home. I hopped on a treadmill, started my heart rate monitor, and was pronounced dead. I went to the bathroom, and rinsed the strap really good, tried again. Still “dead.” Tried once more and figured either one of my batteries was dying or the strap just needed a real washing. Started walking, and 2 minutes into my first run tried it again on a whim and it worked.
