Day 197 – 224.6

Do you see that? a 3.1 pound loss for last week, and 1/2″ of of my waist is gone too! After all the eating out and the big steak dinner we had last night, I was expecting a gain, not a loss, and definitely not this big of a loss. Needless to say, I am thrilled to see it. It also means I can reset my ticker to the next goal of 30 pounds, and cross off the lose 25 pounds total goal from my monthly goals. I’ve got today and tomorrow left to meet the last two- I know I won’t lose another half an inch between now and then, but maybe I can do the sit-ups. I’ll have to give those a try; either get my butt to the gym to use their bench or else get Mattie to hold my feet for me. Anyway, 3, almost 4, out of 5 isn’t so bad.

I totally overslept (as in right through my multiple alarms) and missed taking Mattie lunch at work today. As a result, he came home starving, headachey, and pissy because he basically went all day without eating. I grabbed a box of beef flavored rice mix and a pound of hamburger and threw it together, and he ate all but about 1.5 cups of it. And of course I feel like an ass for starving him all day.

Later on I fixed dinner again with leftover mashed potatoes from last night, cooking up a little chicken and heating up some gravy to pour over the potatoes. That was pretty good, although I’m not a big gravy fan. After dinner he sent me out to get froyo- it was a toss up between Berry Star and Coldstone, which I shut down because Coldstone, while freaking delicious, 1) gives you way too much even in their small size, and 2) its super premium ice cream which puts the fat content somewhere between through the roof and sky high. Coldstone is good for an occasional treat, but not as often as we go for some sort of frozen goodies.

Anyway, today’s eats.

A little high, but fat % was nice and low.

I also finished reading Twilight last night and started reading Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, which is actually pretty good. Its not a deep read, but the storytelling is nice and it reads easily without making me feel like I’m going to become illiterate. Here’s from the Amazon page’s description.

At eighteen, Jillian Lauren was an NYU theater school dropout with a tip about an upcoming audition. The “casting director” told her that a rich businessman in Singapore would pay pretty American girls $20,000 if they stayed for two weeks to spice up his parties. Soon, Jillian was on a plane to Borneo, where she would spend the next eighteen months in the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah, youngest brother of the Sultan of Brunei, leaving behind her gritty East Village apartment for a palace with rugs laced with gold and trading her band of artist friends for a coterie of backstabbing beauties.

More than just a sexy read set in an exotic land, Some Girls is also the story of how a rebellious teen found herself-and the courage to meet her birth mother and eventually adopt a baby boy.

I’m only as far in as the author has been in Borneo for only a few weeks, but I expect to be finished with it in the next two days easily. Its a very fast read. After that I’m not sure what I’ll pick up. Maybe Man in the High Castle. Or maybe I’ll hit Megan up to collect the other Twilight books and torture myself a little more. We’ll see.

One thing that is for sure, tomorrow I am putting laundry away and vacuuming the house, as well as grocery shopping.

I know you’ve found success this month in weight-loss primarily due to eating healthy, but I hope that isn’t what’s discouraging you from exercise. You’ve lost over twice as many inches in March than April from busting your ass. I hope May is the month that you “may” consider getting back to a routine workout! You felt like you were on top of the world when you fit into a men’s t-shirt. I imagine you’ll feel just the same, if not better, fitting into your jeans! I hope you “May”ke it happen! :)

I hope so too. Hell, I planned on it about ten times and then something distracted me. If all goes well, I am going to try to go in tomorrow. I need to get back at it if only to tire me out some as I haven’t been sleeping well lately.

Thanks! I got a package the other week and ate them here and there, but not sure if I want to make them a regular part of my diet. I probably shouldn’t, as they taste good, and the numbers aren’t so bad with the chicken ones, but they aren’t as filling as say a bowl of oatmeal.
