Day 199

I got up early today- a little before 6am- and dozed on the couch under Mattie’s Colts blanket for an hour and a half before really getting up. I was waiting for the Abundant Harvest produce delivery to get here and I wanted to be ready and not have the nice lady wait five minutes for me to crawl out of bed and get dressed to come get the box. A little after 9:30, she showed up. The box looks good this week, with broccoli, asparagus, chard, lettuce, spinach, oranges, sugar snap peas, onions, green garlic, and tarragon. The menu for tonight was originally chicken tacos, but I mixed it up a bit and did the southern style chicken and greens tonight instead. I have a lot of chard, some left from last week, and I didn’t want to throw it out.

I vacuumed the house, including the couch, and got down on my knees and did the edges of the room and furniture. Sashi helped me with vacuuming the couch by laying down on top of the end of the hose every time I tried to suck up a gob of hair.

After that, I put a movie on, which I only sort of listened to and didn’t really watch at all. Then I went into the bedroom, put down the dance platform, and turned on my old, trusty Xbox. The DDR game pretty much never comes out of it, so all I had to do was plug in the platform and go. Almost 35 minutes later, I had torched 406 calories. I know that’s nothing compared to the 80 minute, 900 calorie workouts I was doing before, but its way better than nothing. Its amazing how much work it is to just make rapid steps and jump around and stomp your feet. I’ll take it though, because it is pretty fun!

I also realized that in meeting my “lose 25 pounds” goal, I have covered exactly half the distance between where I started and club ONEderful. The last time I did this, I made it down to 196 and just stopped counting, paying attention, everything and two years later I was back at my starting place again, minus 8 pounds. That’s not happening this time.

Dinner tonight… I honestly thought this recipe was going to be disgusting. I read it, I looked at the ingredients, and I just knew it’d be gross. But it’s one of Mattie’s picks, so I gathered what I needed, made some changes as I saw fit, and put it together. You can see the recipe on my recipe index page- but really all you need to know it’s freaking delicious and you’ll want to eat it again. We both rated it a 5 out of 5, so its on the “make it again” list for sure. And this recipe also puts me one step closer to meeting my cooking goal for this year, which I really hope I not only pass but blow out of the water by year’s end.

Moving on… Today’s eats. I went a little higher then I meant to, and I’m blaming that on the bacon that went into our dinner. Okay, that and the ice cream sammie. That didn’t help either. But overall it wasn’t such a bad day.

I’m reading the second story in the New Cthulhu: The Recent Weird book, and I’ve started (years behind everyone else on the planet apparently) watching Mad Men. So far I really like it. Hopefully the like will continue.

Tomorrow is a new day, so I’ll try to make it a good one. Have a good night folks!

  • I don’t really see a problem with 160 calories of ice cream sandwich. Often a simple indulgence like that can keep someone on course.

If I was pointing a naughty finger at something in your food journal, it would probably be the second corn muffin. Just my opinion :)

LOL You’re right, of course. I try to keep room in my day for little things like that because it does help keep me on track, and way less likely to binge on anything.

I got sucked in my muffin number two mainly because they were fresh out of the oven and warm. I almost never want them the next day… lol.

  • I have a feeling you’re going to LOVE Mad Men! It just keeps getting better with each passing season.

It’s fantastic that you realized that if you double your to-date weight loss you’ll be at ONEderland. How exciting! It also goes to show that 25 lbs is a lot!

The dancing sounds like so much fun, and I think 406 calories is great for 35 minutes. You must’ve really been shaking your booty!!

I’ve only watched the pilot so far, but I’m sold! :D I can’t wait to make it back to ONEderland again too. Once I saw I’m halfway there, it seemed so close already. I like that.

Heh. I think DDR really should have been called “Jump Step Stomp” instead, but it is fun! And it gets my heartrate up like crazy and I really start sweating after a few minutes. Love it!
