Day 256

I’ve been trying to make a point of reading for a few hours each week lately, and I was almost all the way through the pile of books on my nightstand. Then I made the “mistake” of digging through a few hundred pages of Amazon’s bargain books under $5 and the 4 for 3 deals and found a few more. These are the books that are either on my night stand or are on the way to me now. I’m not really sure what order I’ll read them in, though I think Meet Your Happy Chemicals will be high in the rotation.

First though, I have to get through the latest issue of Asimov’s. I started that this afternoon, and I want to finish it and get started on something else before the month is out. And yes, you spy a trashy romance in that list- For some reason I don’t know I was suddenly able to remember the titles of the really trashy ones I read when I was in 5th grade, at school no less, and nearly got suspended for. My mother was not happy.

We got the produce box this morning and I almost had to make two trips to carry it in from the porch. There was the usual box, filled to the top, plus my 5 pound bag of raisins, and a shopping bag with half a dozen ears of corn. The corn went right into the freezer. Mattie doesn’t like corn and I eat it only rarely, so might as well put it where it will stay good for a while.

Food was pretty good today. I actually didn’t use all my calories and had a dessert of ice cream. I’ve had fudge bars and tons of frozen yogurt, but actual ice cream I think it’s been months. Fat calories were a little high, but not bad. Nothing so high as to be upsetting or make me feel like crap about it… lol.

We tried out a new recipe for dinner tonight, which I posted to the cooking blog. Malaysian Curried Beef. I made a few small changes to it, and I personally thought it was great, but Mattie was so-so on it. He doesn’t really care for curry though so I wasn’t too surprised there. I wish I had gotten pictures of it before we scarfed it down- it looked as good as it tasted and smelled.

I meant to do three things today. Finish my book (Man in the High Castle), sew up the rest of the fabric I have already cut, and try out a new recipe. I did two out of three. Tomorrow I have to do my sewing, as well as start putting my displays and things into the car for Saturday. I want as much of that stuff done as possible before the actual day of the festival.

I’m in line with everything today- calories are 300 below my goal, fat is 1% over, and points are 1.5 below. I could eat some more raisins or another granola bar (no thanks) but kind of silly because I’m not hungry. Now I’m going to get back to my movie (Girl with a Pearl Earring) and then maybe pin some fabric so its ready to sew tomorrow. See you then!
