This day has tried my patience today. I slept late, texted Mattie over his lunch break, then got up, checked email, checked my bank balance, and headed out after a cup of coffee. My first stop was the bank, where I pulled out the $25 I owed Mattie for dog food last week. Since we’ve increased Sashi’s food (she’s a little thin) a $50 bag of dog food is lasting us about 16 days instead of the 3 weeks it used to last. This month I wasn’t prepared for it in my budget, but I re-figured it from here on out and I’m good. After stopping by the bank, I went to Walmart, which isn’t my favorite store to shop at but meat is way cheaper there than at Food4Less, and grabbed this week’s groceries. I had checked the Sunday paper before I left and found several coupons I could use and had brought them with me. I ended up grabbing a few items I wasn’t planning on because of the coupons, but razors and shaving cream I kind of need and the coupons were too good not to use them. I had coupons for yogurt, juice, shaving cream, razors, and granola bars, all of which we use regularly. Sounds good, right? I wish. I got to the checkout line and waited almost ten minutes. There was a little old lady at the front who was paying by check… ten years later, it was my turn. The cashier rang up all my items, and I slid my card. And it said declined. I tried it again. Declined. :( Tried it a few more times. Same result. xD I ended up holding up the line for ten minutes myself while the cashier cancelled my transaction and we started ringing things up one by one until it hit $25. That was everything but the juice, milk, the coffee creamer, and the meat. I handed her my coupons for everything she had rung up so far and it knocked it down to $18 and change. I handed her the milk. $21. And the juice, plus the coupon I had for it. $22. I handed her the creamer. $24 and I’m out of money. I left with everything but the meat, and went back to the bank, where they could find absolutely nothing wrong with my card or my account so they issued me a new card, and told me to try it in the ATM to make sure it worked right before I left. It did.
I took my groceries I already had home, put them away and went back to the store. The new card worked fine and I got my meat and came home. But I was mortified when my card was declined and I was the one holding up the line. It was so embarrassing, even though it wasn’t my fault. I still have a few more coupons left in my purse, one of which Mattie will use when he buys Pringles next time. He eats them, I don’t, so they are his expense. There’s also two other shaving cream coupons in there, and another yogurt one. I made out really well on the yogurt today. Between being on sale and my coupon, I paid $0.46 each, instead of the normal $0.66 each. Score! :D But I still had to make a third trip to the store because I forgot to buy Mattie’s lunches. Ugh.
After that though, my day did improve. Mattie got home from work, and we had spaghetti for dinner because I was too lazy to really cook anything. After my belly settled, I headed of to the gym to do week three, day one of C25K, and I thought I was going to die. xD I’m really not sure that moving on to week three was a good idea, but I’m going to give it another go on Wednesday as planned and see if its any easier. Here’s how week three went.
By the time I got halfway through the last run, I honestly thought I was going to throw up if it continued much longer, but I got through it and I walked it out, and kept walking until I hit 31:00 minutes total which has become my informal stopping point. So, if week three doesn’t get a bit easier on Wednesday, I’ll probably lapse back to week two again. Killing myself doing this is not part of the plan.
Food was okay today. I stayed in an okay place with calories, though fat was a little high, and I’d have like to have seen carbs a little lower and protein a little higher. But, considering the day had a surprise of Starbucks (Mattie brought it home for me without me knowing until it was here) it was a good day overall. Here’s the eats.

Anyway, that concludes my post for tonight, and I’m getting it up before the next day. Yay me! LOL See you all tomorrow!

What if you try to go for a slower pace? Maybe 4.5 mph? I keep going back & forth on whether I should focus on speed or endurance and i think at this point for me, endurance is what my focus will be.

Maybe… I didn’t really feel like the speed was an issue. We’ll see how Wednesday goes and decide from there. :)
I want to get up to a speed of 5mph at some point, but like you my main focus is on endurance.
