FMM – Blogger to Blogger

FMM2It’s Monday again, and I’m out of town so I’ll get right to this week’s topic.  If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

  1. Does your blog have one overwhelming theme?
Yes. The theme is my weight loss and getting healthier. I also have a child blog dedicated to the recipes we’ve tried and liked, as well as one for my sewing projects. On an entirely separate site, I also have my graphic design and jewelry work with another blog.
  2. How did you come up with the theme(s) for your blog? Was it intentional?
I have been blogging since 2003, and my previous blog was a huge hodge-podge of things, but mostly it was rants, complaints, and some very dirty posts. The theme for this one was decided when I started leaning the focus of my old blog towards my weight loss and health changes and I decided to close down the old blog and get a new domain name for this one.
  3. Share something cool that has happened in your life as a result of blogging.
I’ve made so many new friends in the blogging world, participated in some great giveaways hosted by other bloggers (and did a few myself) and the support system generated by the blogging community is amazing. All of these combined have helped me to find a voice to talk about things that matter to me, and while there’s still some things I don’t talk about, I say a lot of things I never woud have been comfortable with saying before.
  4. How much time to do spend reading blogs everyday?
Um… Probably about an hour. Some days I spend more time, some days less.
  5. Do you blog on the weekends?
I blog every day if I can, though sometimes I skip a day here and there.
  6. Do you keep track of your stats?  Do they matter to you?
I do, and while its interesting to see changes and trends, its not really something I focus on.
  7. How do you decide how much to share about your personal life?
My awareness of who some of my readers are does influence things slightly, but really, if its not something I’d be comfortable discussing  with a group, I’m probably not going to put it in my blog.
  8. Do you aspire to be a writer, or did blogging happen for some other reason?
While once upon a time I had a dream of being a published author, I’ve mostly taking up blogging because it was a release (mentally) and helped me keep my sanity. In short, its cheap therapy.
  9. As a blogger, do you think it’s more important to write for yourself, or for your readers?
For me, I write for myself. I doo sometimes answer a question a commenter asked me, or I use my blog to interact with a specific person, but 95% is about me, me, me! However, if the blog has targeted the correct audience, writing for the readers can be just as good from a reader’s standpoint. I think its really a personal preference and depends on why you’re blogging in the first place.
  10. What kind of plans do you have for the future of your blog?
I intend to keep it going until I don’t have a use for it any longer. If that’s just until I reach my goal weight, so be it. If its for ten more years, that’s okay too. I ended my first blog of something like 8 years when it was more about the old me than the current me.

This was easily my favorite FMM Kenlie has put together! I loved answering these questions.
