Today I decided to kick some ass at the gym, and that’s exactly what I did, though I didn’t get quite as much done as I would have liked to. The reason for that? I’m impatient, and there were a ton of people waiting for the machines, so I just did 2 sets of each of my normal weights machines (I skipped the leg extensions altogether- the Megan Fox lookalike girl was parked on it and she looks really bitchy so I didn’t want to ask her to move if she was done) and called it good. I did increase the weight on the prone leg curls and probably can take it up to 60 pounds- 50 pounds honestly didn’t feel any different then 40 pounds did. I probably should have done some sit-ups on the bench too, but honestly, I was pooped. Its been a while since I’ve done that much! Anyway, as you can see over there <— I did pretty good. I’ve done better in the past, but when I was burning way more calories in that time I was also in worse shape so less work gave a bigger result.

Anyway, I’m happy with what I did. Here’s the breakdown of today’s workout.

Walked 0.25 miles @ 3mph 0% 5:00 mins

Jogged 0.55 miles @ 4.3 mph 0% 7:40 mins

Walked 0.87 miles @ 3 mph 0% 17:20 mins

Walked 0.53 miles @ 3.2 mph 3% 10 mins

Walked 0.53 miles @ 3.2 mph 5% 10 mins

Walked 0.53 miles @ 3.2 mph 2% 10 mins

Walked 0.5 miles @ 3 mph 0% 10 mins

Tricep extension 15 x 2 @40lbs

Prone leg curl 10 x 2 @ 50 lbs

Bicep curl 20 x 2 @ 20 lbs

Ab crunch machine 10 x 2 @ 40 lbs

Lat pulldown 10 x 2 @ 40 lbs

Food was good, though what we had for dinner sucked. We tried a lentil casserole and while it was a thousand times better then plain lentils, it still wasn’t very good. I ate it, but I do not want to eat it again if I can help it and Mattie just picked the meat out. Anyway, here’s today’s eats.

Tonight’s post will be short. I just don’t have anything to say, except that food was decent, though I did go a little overboard at dinner, and I only got a short walk in. There’s absolutely no reason I didn’t do more except I was tired and I didn’t want to make my legs even more tired before jogging tomorrow. This is also the 8th day in a row I have been active, so I’m not going to kick myself over taking it easy today.

Anyway, moving on. My mom is trying to learn how to buy things off of ebay. After months, she’s still only half-mastered emails, and I spent ten minutes trying to tell her how to send me the link to the actual auction pages of the items she wants to review them for anything fishy. Then she seemed like she got kind of mad when I told her she’d have to sign up for her own ebay account (no way in hell she is using mine!) and get her own PayPal account, which could take several days to set up she would need to do that first. I know she was groaning when I tried to explain that part, and I didn’t even get to explain how ebay itself works. I did tell her if she gets screwed, good luck getting it made right. While I’ve had hundreds of positive transactions on ebay, I’ve had a few very, very bad ones that were all on high-dollar items which ebay refused to help rectify. That’s why I don’t do business there unless I absolutely cannot find the item elsewhere.

Okay, today’s eats.

Today we got the produce box, which ended up coming way late in the day and I ended up having beans and rice for breakfast instead of the eggs and mushrooms I had hoped for. Not long after that, Mattie got home from work and I headed out to the gym as its too hot mid-day to go for a walk around here. I ended up on the treadmill, and did 2.64 miles with varying speeds and hills, averaging 3.2 mph in 50 minutes. The hills ranged from none at all to 4%- I’ve done more than that before but its been a while since I’ve walked any hills so wasn’t going to go straight to like 6% or something.

The produce box had a nice surprise in it- it had said seasonal fruit, and what we got were strawberries, apricots, and cherries! Yum! The cherries are mostly tart with a little sweetness, and so good!

I was also happy to note the scale was down a bit more today. I’m now only 2.1 pounds away from my lose 30 pounds goal. I cannot wait to step on the scale and see it say 220.5 or less! That will be an exciting day.

Food was good today. I kept fat pretty low and while I pretty much nibbled all day, I nibbled on smart things. We went out to dinner at Red Robin with Mattie’s dad and brother. I researched their menu before we left and gave myself several options for both sandwiches and sides. I ended up having a chicken sandwich and a side of fruit salad. When the food came, Mattie’s dad looked at my food, looked at me, and said “You’re going to eat that healthy?” Um yes I am, thank you. The food was really good though, and in no way did I regret my decision to get what I got.

When we were going to his dad’s to pick him and his brother up, we saw a ton of smoke- the Wendy’s just up the street from us burnt down. According to the brief article we found online, it started in the kitchen as a grease fire. Guess that’s one less fast food place I have to not feel guilty about eating at. There’s one a few miles in another direction, but I don’t like driving where it is.

Anyway, today’s eats.

Tomorrow I’m going to walk my ass off again, and when I’m not doing that, I’ll be reading another story or two in my book, or catching up on my little bit of TV watching. I’m a few weeks behind on both Grimm & New Girl.

Good evening folks! It was another fine day in sunny, Southern California! Erm… another hot sunny day. I decided early on today that I was going to take it easy. After yesterday’s almost 2 mile walk on the pavement, and my mile at the gym on the treadmill, my feet and legs are sore. I did something physical the last 5 days though, so taking it easy today is excusable. That was my plan for today anyway- relax. But I’ll get to that in a minute. The plan I have for my jogging is to add 0.05 miles to my distance each week through the first mile, and step it up from there. The week of June 10th I want to mark off my 3/4 mile goal, and by mid-July, if all goes well, I’ll be able to do one mile without stopping. If I add an extra 0.07 miles each week after I hit one mile I can be at 2 miles around the end of October, and step up by 0.11 miles each week after that I’ll be at 3.1 miles come the end of the year.

I realized too yesterday I forgot to post this week’s dinner menu.

Thursday & Friday are new recipes, and I’m pretty worried that Thursday’s is going to be gross. We tried lentils before but I didn’t really know what to do with them and it was pretty bad. I figure I’ll give them one more shot and hope they redeem themselves. If not, I’ll be cooking dinner twice that night, at least for Mattie. I’ll probably just eat it anyway because its already made and I won’t want to just throw it out.

Today was also grocery shopping day, though I barely needed to pick anything up. I’ve noticed since I’ve been planning out dinners out, I’m doing better on my weekly shopping, and somehow, our freezer is completely stuff full of meat right now. I bought chicken this week because we’ll be out right before I got shopping next week and I have another chicken meal to make, but otherwise I barely needed anything. Here’s what I got.

Bottled water (24 pack for $5.18 including CRV)

Lucky Duck malbec wine ($2.97) – a splurge, though only a small one. I’ll maybe have a small glass and Mattie will drink the rest.

Milk ($2.80 gallon)

Chicken Breasts (4.34 lbs for $8.55)

Bacon (12 Oz for $2.88)

Total $22.38 + $0.26 tax. That leaves me with $17.36 for the rest of the week, and the only thing I know I need to buy is a tomato and some broccoli, if the one I have in the fridge doesn’t survive until Thursday and I don’t get any in tomorrow’s box. There’s supposed to be tomatoes in there though tomorrow, along with a bunch of other good stuff. Seasonal fruit (probably apricots), lettuce, basil, squash, garlic, potatoes, chard, strawberries (Mattie will be happy about these), & tomatoes.

Now, about that taking it easy today. I really meant to. I though hey, I’ll do an hour long yoga session, and call it good. And I did. I did almost an hour of yoga, and then curled up to read for a bit. After I finished the next story in my book, I realized my body felt so much better after all those long stretches and reaches that I really did want to go knock out my 0.55 miles jogging at the gym, so I put my shoes on, and headed over there.

Like last time I jogged, the first 1/4th was super easy. Then the entire middle 1/2 was killer. And at the last 1/4th, everything got easy again and I really wondered how far I could go before I just keeled over and my body flew off the back of the treadmill. Luckily that thought lasted just until I saw the distance hit 0.80 (I started jogging after 5 minutes/0.25 miles) and I slowed back down to a fast walk to finish out the mile. And just by jogging the extra 0.05 miles and upping my walking speed a little, I was able to get in 0.05 miles further in the same time frame as yesterday. Friday I will do it all again.

Food was pretty good today, despite a lot of snacking. I was hungry again after my late breakfast, and then I really didn’t get enough dinner so there was more snacking after that. Still, I managed to stay within a nice place in the numbers. Here’s the damages.

So, that was today. Tomorrow I will be making an extra effort to eat well throughout the day because I have no idea what dinner will bring. Right now though, I’m going to relax and wait a few more minutes for Two & a Half Men and Mike & Molly to come on.

Its Friend Making Monday time again! Copy the questions to your blog, and answer them. Then post the link to your answers here on Kenlie’s blog and make some new friends! Its lots of fun, and an entertaining way to get new traffic to your blog as well as find some other people for you to visit. Let’s go!

FMM: All The Single Ladies (and Gents)

What is your current relationship status? Are you happy with that status? I’m taken in a long-term relationship, and I’m more than fine with it. I love my boyfriend, and I can honestly say he is the best thing to have happened to me.

Do you find it enjoyable to take care of someone in addition to yourself, or do you prefer to be responsible only for yourself? I like taking care of him as well as me. We also have two large dogs to take care of.

What’s the most important physical characteristic in your mate/potential mate? I hope I’m not the only one to say this, but while certain physical attributes are nice, I really don’t put a lot of weight into them. I’d rather have the other attributes that really matter- caring, funny, smart… et cetera.

What’s the most important (non-physical) characteristic in your mate/potential mate? That he be accepting of me as I am, for who I am, not what I am.

Is it important to you that your significant other have the same hobbies and interests as you? Nope. In all honesty, my boyfriend and I have very little in common. We both love board games and froen yogurt though. :p

If you could go out on a date with a celebrity who would it be? Um… I have no idea. The whole concept of celebrity is pretty much lost on me. Wil Wheaten maybe? Should I ask his wife first? LOL

What’s your idea of a good first date? Something where we can get to know each other. Movies are out. Maybe a long walk and a picnic?

Are there any traits/habits that you’d consider a deal breaker? No drugs, getting drunk, smoking (I used to be a smoker and I am disgusted by it now). No criminal records. No lying or cheating. No jealousy!

Okay ladies…Facial Hair: Yes, or No? I’m open to either but I prefer some facial hair. My boyfriend has a full beard and a mustache, which I adore, but I’ve dated guys with no facial at all too.

Would you marry someone who is opposed to diamond engagement rings? Um… Well, I don’t like diamonds. They’re plain and boring. Give me sapphires, opals, or rubies instead. As to getting married… I could take it or leave it.

What do you wish you could do differently in your next relationship? Be more assertive! I suck at that in any and all types of relationships. Though really I don’t want there to be a next one.

Is there anyone from your past that you’d like to date again now? haha No. The past is the past, and I’m a different person now.

Describe your worst first date story ever. Um… I went out with this guy (stupidly) who had beeen friends with one of my exes. The whole night he talked about nothing but my ex. Then when I (briefly) stopped in at his place (nothing happening there!) he asked me stay the night. I said no. He said, and I wish I were kidding- “What is I take off my clothes?” I told him he’d be naked and I’d still be gone. He took off his clothes. I laughed so hard all the way to my car that I nearly peed myself. Never saw or heard form him again, thankfully.

Describe the perfect date with your significant other. See #7 followed by board games and a movie on the couch.

Would you date someone shorter than you? I don’t think it would be a deal breaker, but I’ve always liked guys were were really tall, like 6’4″.

Share one (or a few) bonus traits that would be fun to find in an significant other (even if they aren’t as important as other traits.) A willingness to get dirty, a love of rockabilly/psychobilly music, someone who likes to be physically active.

What’s one thing you’d like to do with a significant other that you’ve never done with another? Kenlie nailed this one. Exercise. No contest.

PDA: Yes, or No? Um… not really. A few fairly chaste kisses are okay, as is hand holding, but nothing beyond an appropriate junior high level… lol.

Do you kiss on the first date? If I want to, yes. But if not, I’ll turn it down pretty quick.

Who, if anyone, makes your heart flutter? My boyfriend does! He makes my heart flutter often enough to give me the giggles regularly.
