After much thought, I’ve finalized a list of yearly goals to achieve over the year 2012. Here they are, in no particular order.
- End the year with a zero balance on my Visa. – FAIL!
- Lose 75 pounds this year. (41.7 of 75 done – 56%)
- Cook thirty-six “new to me” recipes in a year. (22 of 36 done – 61%)
- Visit an aquarium.
- Sew 8 new projects this year. (12 of 8 done – 150%)
- Read 50 books this year, not including re-reads. (33 of 50 done – 66%)
- Pay off the car loan completely. ($2112 of $2160 – 98%)
- Vacuum the house (at least) once a week. (45 of 52 done – 87%)
Do not buy any more fabric this year– FAIL!
Here’s my thoughts on these and how they are progressing.
- At the end of the year, this card is still basically maxed out, but I did transfer everything but my gym membership payment to my debit card instead so it will be seeing a lot less usage.
- 41.7 pounds was where I was come January 1st. I actually backslid a little around Christmas or it would have been a few more.
- I didn’t do terribly on this one. We tried some new foods, and we found some new meal ideas we both really liked.
- I didn’t even stand a chance at this one. :(
- I did really well on this one!
- re-made the interior cushion on Lucy’s dog bed and repaired the outer cushion where Sashi chewed it up
- sewed several zippered clutch bags for the AV Pride festival
- made 2 pairs of flannel pajama shorts
- made a flannel nightgown
- red dress
- halter top with yellow vintage fabric
- red polka dot circle skirt
- doggie coats
- cherries skirt
- grey pencil skirt
- hot pad from UFO pile
- bathrobe
- Last year I almost made it, but I read a lot of graphic novels. This year I’m reading “real” books, and the going is much slower. I’m not sure how far I’ll get on this one, to be honest. Here’s what I’ve got so far:
- At the Dark End of the Street: Black Women, Rape, and Resistance–A New History of the Civil Rights Movement from Rosa Parks to the Rise of Black Power
- Nomad: From Islam to America: A Personal Journey Through the Clash of Civilizations
- Hurry Down Sunshine: A Father’s Story of Love and Madness
- Famous Players: Mysterious Death Of William Desmond Taylor
- The Hunger Games
- Catching Fire
- Mockingjay
- Twilight
- Asimovs Science Fiction Magazine
- Asimov’s Science Fiction April/May 2012
- Asimov’s Science Fiction June 2012
- Asimov’s Science Fiction July 2012
- Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine (August 2012)
- Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine (September 2012)
- Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine October/November 2012
- Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine December 2012
- Tune In Tokyo: The Gaijin Diaries
- Some Girls: My Life in a Harem
- New Cthulhu: The Recent Weird
- The Walking Dead, Book 1
- Last Chance to See
- The Man in the High Castle
- Nabi The Prototype
- Meet Your Happy Chemicals: Dopamine, Endorphin, Oxytocin, Serotonin
- The Casanova Code: Book One of the Rake Patrol
- Ophelia
- Lucky : A Memoir
- The White Bone: A Novel
- Zombie Haiku: Good Poetry For Your…Brains
- The Walking Dead, Book 2
- A Girl Named Zippy: Growing Up Small in Mooreland, Indiana
- Bento Box in the Heartland: My Japanese Girlhood in Whitebread America
- Fit2Fat2Fit: The Unexpected Lessons from Gaining and Losing 75 lbs on Purpose
- A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 1)
- The Trouble with Islam Today: A Muslim’s Call for Reform in Her Faith (currently reading)
- 98%! I’d say I pretty much made it!
- I did pretty well here too. A few weeks I just didn’t vacuum and other weeks I vacuumed multiple times. The house was definitely cleaner this year!
- I failed this one. I broke down and bought a few fabrics to make purses for the upcoming AV Pride festival. I also bought fabric to attempt making a quilt and to make a bathrobe.
